Sammendrag
High Frequency (HF) communications at high latitudes can be extremely difficult due to ionospheric disturbances causing large variations of channel conditions. In order to establish communications during such conditions, real-time information of the ionospheric “weather” (space weather) is important. This information can help selecting the optimum frequency and provide the operator with confidence that communication problems are not caused by equipment problems, but rather channel conditions. This report describes the contents of a Web-page residing at www.ffi.no/hf. The Web-page contains links to pages on the Internet that we find useful for understanding HF propagation. Examples are: Real-time information, prediction tools, and HF forecasts for the next 24 hours. We explain how the information on these pages can be used for establishing and understanding HF communications.
