Abstract
VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) is a future maritime communication system. Its development is coordinated by the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA). The system has two main goals: To protect the anti-collision function of AIS, and to improve maritime communication applications. Space Norway has formed a consortium with Kongsberg Seatex and the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) to support the development of VDES. The consortium has won two European Space Agency contracts. This document is a part of the second contract, “AO/1- 8282/15-NL/IA – Cost Effective VDE-SAT user terminal and ground component validation platform”, and is the user manual for the simulator described in “D2-2: System Simulator Design Description Document and Functional and Performance Validation Report”.
Utviklingen av systemet er koordinert av International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).
